Bloomfield FD Chief and WBMA-TV Team Up For Safety

Bloomfield New Jersey’s Fire Chief, Joe McCarthy stopped by the Township’s Government Access Channel, WBMA-TV to speak to residents about Fire Prevention and Safety. With Fire Prevention Week coming up (October 3-9), the Township’s Fire Chief took to the airwaves to tell residents about the importance of fire safety, smoke and carbon-monoxide detectors and to help promote the Fire Is Black video.

WBMA-TV will air on a daily basis during National Fire Prevention week a 1/2 hour Fire Prevention and Safety Program with the Fire Chief, a tour of Bloomfield’s Fire Safety Trailer and the airing of the Fire Is Black video, part of a five part series of Fire Safety entitled, Fire Is…  WBMA-TV Station Director Bob Duthaler said “we are very excited to work with the Bloomfield Fire Department and NJFiresafety.com to help promote the Fire Is video series. We will with continue over the course of the next few months to air a new Fire Is video and continue the Fire Prevention and Safety Educational Training”.

The Bloomfield Fire Department will continue its Educational and Training Program throughout the year by visiting schools,  homes and on Bloomfield’s Public Safety Open House. The Public Safety Open House will take place on Tuesday, October 19th between 6-9pm at 1 Municipal Plaza, outside the Police and Fire Department Headquarters.  This event will feature the Fire Department, Fire Prevention Bureau, Police Department and the Volunteer Ambulance Squad. This is a family fun night of demonstrations, prevention and safety training and more.
